After 8 years with my old petrol car, it started burning oil, and I noticed a lot of people around me were switching to electric vehicles. That got me thinking. I was originally planning to get the top-spec Tank 300 (Menglong), and during the National Day holiday I went for a test drive — it met my expectations. On the way back, I stopped by a Jetour dealership and saw the T2. My daughter instantly fell in love with the exterior and interior — it completely overshadowed the Menglong in her eyes. Looks clearly played a big role, and after a test drive, it felt good enough. Since I don’t really need 4WD for daily driving, I booked it right away. Looking back now, I do wish I had waited for the 4WD version — a bit more power would’ve been nice. For this type of vehicle, electric power saves a lot. For daily use, my cost is just around 0.10 AED/km (charging at home on off-peak rates of 3.3 AED/kWh). My daily round-trip to work is under 20 km, so I only charge every four days, when the battery hits around 20%. For long-distance trips, I don’t bother with charging — it’s too much hassle. I just set the car to preserve 60% battery and drive on petrol. Even if fuel consumption is slightly higher, it’s fine since I only do a few road trips per year. The car is heavy and feels solid on the road. Acceleration is decent, but the 4WD version definitely would’ve offered better power and confidence. I’ve had the car for over half a year now. So far, the only issue has been a slight noise from the steering system — which was fixed. Other than that, no major problems. Buying a car always involves a bit of luck anyway. The biggest downside is the driver assistance system — it lags behind the competition. The infotainment system has improved a bit with the latest 4.11 update, but it still has room for improvement. Overall, I’m quite satisfied. Compared to many newer EV startups, Chery is an established brand. The lifetime warranty adds a lot of peace of mind, especially on the powertrain and electric components.

I used to own a small, fuel-efficient petrol car that consumed around 7 liters per 100 km. Most of my driving was for commuting — around 65 km daily — and on weekends or holidays, we’d go for drives around Sharjah or head out for desert trips and camping. We even did a couple of long road trips each year. The car was great in the city, but the trunk was too small, and it couldn’t fit all the camping gear. What annoyed me most was the low ground clearance — I kept scraping speed bumps or rocks. So, I decided it was time for a change, and I started looking for a hybrid vehicle that could handle light off-road use. I came across the Jetour, and I was genuinely impressed. The design looks bold and premium. I started researching and comparing, and after a test drive, I was convinced it was the right fit for me. I’ve had it for about 20 days now and already driven over 2,000 km. We’ve taken it on trips — including mountain roads and rough trails — and the car held up really well. It handled steep climbs and sharp angles with ease, even in narrow, unpaved areas. Of course, I’d recommend some driving experience for off-roading, since it’s front-wheel drive, and on really steep inclines, the front tires might slip a bit. The interior is spacious — I was able to load all the camping equipment, and with the rear seats folded down, we laid out an air mattress and turned it into a bed for two! One of my favorite features is the external power outlet — we used it to run a kettle, coffee machine, grill, and even boil water for cooking or tea. It’s basically a complete outdoor setup on wheels. As for downsides, first is the wind noise — which is expected with its boxy shape. Second, the charging speed is a bit slow — it takes more than an hour to go from 20% to 100%, while other cars can charge at 60 kW in the same time. Lastly, the infotainment system needs improvement — it’s a bit underwhelming. But despite all that, I feel I made a great choice. It’s a hybrid, has a strong design, is highly practical, and suits my lifestyle perfectly — especially for those who love off-road adventures and camping.

give it impressive acceleration. The rear seat space is very generous—though this compromises the trunk depth a bit. Once the rear seats are folded down, it’s spacious enough to sleep in during road trips. Driving experience is spot on. The infotainment system is basic, with limited apps and a slow voice assistant that gives very simple replies. I think having more physical buttons would improve the user experience, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. One thing worth noting is that this car has better ground clearance than most regular SUVs. However, the battery pack sticks out a bit underneath, which poses some risk on uneven terrain. For now, it handles light water-crossings with no problem, but it would be great if the manufacturer could address the battery protrusion. Overall, if you don’t specifically need 4WD or real off-road capability, this car offers excellent value for the price.
